What is the perfect night on our

beautiful island?

After a long day on the beach and probably a few sunburns later, you will wonder what St Martin can offer when the sun is going down…

Obviously you want to be on the west side of the island around 6pm to catch the incredible colours of our unreal sunsets! Grand Case can be the perfect spot for that, take a seat on the beach in one of the bars along that beautiful bay, order a delicious cocktail and some tasty appetisers as you watch the non stop colors changing as dusk is rising.

Never waste any amount of time doing anything important when there is a sunset outside that you should be sitting under!

You may know that St Martin is famous for the quality of our restaurants, but for sure you haven’t tried them all yet! It can be difficult to choose one considering all the good choices you can make! But please don’t fight over that choice, you are on vacation, you will have plenty of opportunities to fight when you get back home.

If you don’t feel like driving after the sunset, Grand Case is definitely one of the places to be for dinner.

There are plenty of great restaurants along that strip… If you want to overlook the Caribbean Sea, Ocean 82 is a great option, beautiful setup, great service, incredible food and an endless wine selection. You can also pick a place on the other side of the street like Bistrot Caraibes or “Le” Cottage. You will find some very cosy setups and you will feel that “Creole” vibe of the village.

Or you can head out to Orient Bay and its famous “Square”. A great variety of different cuisines, French of course, but also Italian or Asian… You will also find a Sports bar if you don’t want to miss a game of your favorite team! The ambiance of the square is really nice, great for families because plenty of space for the kids with no cars around.
And if you need a night cap, you will find plenty of live bands around for a last drink while listening to good music… And just so you know I might be one of your entertainer that night!

Saint-Martin, your island golfing destination

St Martin can be a great golfing destination if you think about it… Or only if you knew about it!

The Mullet bay golf course is designed mainly around the lagoon, with a few holes along the white sand and crystal clear water of Mullet Bay beach.

As you can imagine after reading this last sentence, a lot of water hazards !! Mask and snorkel can come in handy to salvage a few balls!!

It is a quite short but challenging 18 holes golf course, with beautiful views and tropical vegetation along the way.

But there is another golfing gem that you might not know about… Anguilla !!!

The five stars Cuisin’Art resort has its own golf course, designed buy the great former champion Greg NORMAN himself!! You will find there the services you expect for the most private and exclusive courses around the world.

And don’t forget you can get there in a 25 minutes boat ride! And that is really a five stars golf course with all the amenities you need. A beautiful driving range, huge putting green and chipping areas. Not being Warmed up enough can’t be an excuse if you miss your tee shot on #1!!

This course is challenging in very different way than Mullet Bay. This a long and usually windy par 72, but you won’t remember your triple bogeys… You will keep forever in your head the breath taking views that this course offers… and maybe you will have some happy memories of the bar cart that you will encounter every 3 or 4 holes.

Pinel Island, mon Amour...

Paradise, please!

If you come to St Martin and you don’t spend a day on Pinel Island, I am sorry to tell you that your vacation would be a giant fail!
And you can trust me one this one, I worked there for over a decade, I know what I am talking about!

This tiny unhabited Island, just over a mile to go all the way around it, is really the postcard of the treasure island. It is only a few hundred yards from the coast of St Martin, facing the French Cul-de-Sac. It is very easy to get there and you have 2 options. Some ferries leave from Cul-de-Sac and go up and down all day. Or you can rent a kayak or a stand up paddle to go across by yourselves. the island of Pinel protects the bay of Cul-de-Sac from the ocean’s swell, so the waters are always very calm there… and in between you will find Little Key where you can stop and rest if you need to! The second option is the best way to spot some sea turtles and eagle rays along the way: kayaking or paddle boarding with Caribbean Paddling !

The side of Pinel which faces St Martin will show you one of the most beautiful beach in the world… Crystal water, very calm, very shallow, so as you can imagine perfect if you have young kids with you! But you will also see some happy grownups there!
You will find two great restaurants, with beautiful Caribbean setups, wooden shacks covered with palm leaves, beach chairs, live lobsters, great cocktails, the whole paradise package!
Right in front of the pier you will see Yellow Beach restaurant , where you will be able to experience the famous “Tables-in-the-Water”. Enjoy a bottle of wine as you stand over a table with the sea up to your waist line… you can also eat on those tables!
Further down the beach you will find a nice gift shop to get a few souvenirs and next to it the other restaurant, Karibuni , with its beautiful setup and nice creole influenced cuisine.

But before you sit on a lounge chair and have your first cocktail, you should hike around the island first. It is a very easy 40 minutes hike to go all the way around, and when you’ll get up the “hill”, you will have a 360 point of view from which you will see St Martin of course, Anguilla, Tintamarre and St Barths… not too shabby!! You will also find two other secluded beaches along the way.
So after the crossing aboard a kayak and a nice hike, you have my blessings to get a few drinks and a great lunch! Don’t worry for the ride back on the kayak, the wind will push right back where you came from!! But be careful, Pinel can be tricky!! I recommend you don’t make big plans for that night!
